The Story Behind Capicu Nail Tech: A Family Win-Win

Every great idea starts with something simple. For us, it started with a word: Capicu Nail Tech.

The name Capicu comes from the phrase “capicú,” which means a win-win situation—when everyone involved benefits. It is used when playing dominoes to signal that you win from either end.  That idea perfectly represents what our business means to us. We wanted to create something that allowed us to spend time together as a family, use our skills, and build something meaningful at the same time. Capicu was perfect because it took what we wanted and connected it to our Dominican Caribbean roots. 

Our family has always enjoyed technology and creativity. We like learning about new tools, exploring ideas online, and figuring out how to turn creative projects into something real. At the same time, I’ve always loved nails and nail design. Press-on nails felt like the perfect way to combine these interests.

That’s how Capicu Nail Tech was born.

Starting this business allowed us to work together while doing things we enjoy. Each person in the family contributes in their own way. Some of us focus on developing technology apps that support the creation of beautiful press-on nail sets, experimenting with colors, shapes, and styles. Others support the business/marketing side—taking photos, editing images, managing social media, and processing online orders.

Technology allows us to turn our creativity into a real business. We use it to research trends, connect with customers, and share our designs with the world. It’s amazing how tools like online platforms and digital design apps can help a small family idea grow into something bigger.

But the most important part of Capicu Nail Tech isn’t just the nails—it’s the family behind the business.

Working together means we get to spend more time with the people we love while building something that belongs to all of us. We learn from each other, support each other, and celebrate every small success along the way.
